A key role of a 21st Century school is to promote the ideas of ‘community cohesion’. We take this very seriously at KEGS at a local, national and international level. Our specialist Science and Language College status has enabled us to form very productive partnership with local primary, secondary and special schools. The outreach work of our Maths and Science teachers is highly regarded and much sought-after. Students and teachers benefit from these links and relish the chance to interact with other students and teachers on curriculum-based activities and community projects. We also work closely with a range of Chelmsford schools through our role as Lead School for Gifted and Talented.
At an international level, we are in the process of establishing the KEGS Global Partnership of Schools (or GPS). So far we have established links with schools in Australia, China, Japan, and Indonesia alongside our exchange partners in Germany and France and Mogonjet School in Kenya. It is an important part of our mission to promote the idea of ‘global citizenship’, not only because of the moral imperative to promote greater understanding and tolerance but also because of the benefits to students in broadening their view of career opportunities and their grasp of contemporary political and economic issues.
